Every headline satisfies an opinion. Except ours.

Remember when the news was about what happened, not how to feel about it? 1440's Daily Digest is bringing that back. Every morning, they sift through 100+ sources to deliver a concise, unbiased briefing — no pundits, no paywalls, no politics. Just the facts, all in five minutes. For free.

The short version: Part 8 is where the whole series finally clicks — one reference architecture, start to finish, and every choice in it traces straight back to a principle from Parts 1–7.

Seven parts of principles, one part to put them all together. Part 8 walks a full reference architecture for a plain, ordinary web app — nothing exotic, which is exactly the point. A VPC, two Availability Zones, a load balancer, an Auto Scaling Group, Multi-AZ RDS, S3, and a NAT gateway all show up, and every single one is there for a reason you already learned earlier in the series: security as layers, compute and storage and networking scaling independently, redundancy across AZs, and the whole thing built as infrastructure as code so it can’t quietly drift away from the diagram.

The database, notably, sits in a private subnet with no public route in or out — the network equivalent of a home office with no doorbell. Even if the app tier got compromised, nothing sensitive is sitting out front waving.

Read the full walkthrough here — it’s the moment the whole series stops being seven separate lessons and turns into one system you could actually build.

And if you want the fully built-out version of this exact architecture — the real Terraform, the walkthrough, the reasoning behind every line — that’s what the build-along course is for. I’ll let you know the moment it lands.
